Understanding the Menstrual Cycle

Every girl deserves to understand her body. This section is dedicated to educating the girl child about the menstrual cycle—what it is, why it matters, and how to manage it confidently.

1. Menstrual Phase

This is when bleeding starts and lasts for 3–7 days. It’s the body’s way of shedding the uterine lining.

2. Follicular Phase

Begins before menstruation ends. Hormones stimulate egg growth and prepare the uterus for ovulation.

3. Ovulation

Usually around day 14. The ovary releases an egg—this is the most fertile time of the cycle.

4. Luteal Phase

The body prepares for pregnancy. If the egg isn’t fertilized, the cycle restarts with menstruation.
